Celebrating Chinese New Year at Grand Hyatt Bali

As Bali enters the Year of the Fire Horse, Grand Hyatt Bali is marking Chinese New Year with a program that leans into shared moments, family-friendly traditions, and thoughtful touches across the resort. Set in Nusa Dua, the beachfront property is framing the season around togetherness, with festive welcomes on arrival and a mix of dining and kids activities designed to feel easy to join, even for guests keeping a relaxed holiday pace.

A small but meaningful welcome detail begins the stay: families are greeted with festive amenities including an orange, chosen as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. From there, the atmosphere shifts into celebration in the resort’s public spaces, where the Barongsai lion dance takes place in the lobby. With bright costumes, rhythmic drums, and choreographed movement, it offers a cultural moment that feels accessible for all ages, whether guests catch it on the way to breakfast or as an intentional part of the day’s plan.

The culinary centerpiece of the weekend is “Blaze of Prosperity,” hosted at Watercourt from 16 to 18 February. The experience is presented as a curated Chinese New Year menu set within Grand Hyatt Bali’s iconic water palace setting, surrounded by fountains and the resort’s signature architecture. The menu highlights include Yee Sang, also known as the prosperity toss, along with tofu skin spring rolls, crab and golden corn soup, and roasted duck. To close on a local note, the dessert features lapis legit, chosen for its symbolism of patience and prosperity.

For families traveling with children, the Lunar New Year Kids Fest takes place on February 17 at the Kids Club, built around playful, hands-on activities that carry the festive theme through the day. The program begins with a “fortune flower,” followed by small adventures such as feeding breakfast to the ducks and joining an eco print activity that nods to sustainable creativity. Kids can also make Chinese New Year pop-up cards, decorate fortune cookies, design lion dance headbands, try glass painting, weave dream catchers, and take on a nature scavenger hunt. The day wraps with dancing and games led by the Kids Club team, keeping the mood light and social.

Grand Hyatt Bali also highlights its broader resort offering during the season, from its mix of specialty restaurants to the restorative focus of Kriya Spa for guests who want wellness time alongside celebrations. With its family facilities and open-air resort layout, the program is designed to be easy to dip into, whether the plan is a full weekend centered on dining and kids events, or a quieter stay with one festive meal and a few seasonal moments.
