The ocean has always carried stories in Indonesia, moving spices, sailors, and ideas between islands long before travel became a modern luxury. In 2026, The Apurva Kempinski Bali is bringing that history into a new guest experience, launching Spice Route Voyage in partnership with Indonesian yachting specialist Yacht Sourcing. Announced in Bali on 19 February 2026, the journey is framed as a way to connect travelers with the archipelago’s maritime legacy through a week that blends time at sea with a grounded return to Nusa Dua.

At its core, Spice Route Voyage is a seven-day program inspired by the ancient spice trade that once positioned Indonesia as a center of global commerce. Guests spend five days aboard a traditional wooden phinisi schooner, navigating routes shaped around spice-producing heartlands such as North Maluku, including Ternate and Tidore, the Banda Islands, and maritime kingdoms across South Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara. The itineraries are seasonal and designed to reach destinations that are less visited, with the sense of discovery coming from both the landscape and the story threaded through it.

After the sailing portion, the journey continues on land with a two-night stay at the Nusantara Presidential Villa at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, created for up to six guests. The villa stay includes daily breakfast for six, chauffeur service on arrival and departure, and a set of culinary and cocktail moments that keep the spice narrative present without feeling forced. Guests can expect a Majapahit Imperial Dinner crafted by the resort’s culinary team, an Afternoon Tea experience, and a Spice Route-inspired cocktail session at L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo. A restorative treatment at Apurva Spa rounds out the on-land portion, bringing the week back to the body after days on the water.

The partnership is positioned around a shared view of meaningful travel, with both brands placing culture and community at the center of what luxury should represent. Yacht Sourcing, founded in Bali in 2016, is described as preserving Indonesian maritime heritage through a fleet of handcrafted phinisi yachts built by local artisans, and through ongoing training for crews and craftspeople. Earlier collaborations, including a 2024 gala dinner hosted at Bali’s Black Stone Yacht Club, show a relationship built over time rather than a one-off project.
Spice Route Voyage is also the flagship program within The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s 2026 brand campaign, Powerful Indonesia: Spice Route Legacy, a year-long series of cultural activations and curated guest experiences. Reservations are open now, with inaugural sailings beginning in April 2026.
