On 6 March 2026, Katha Lobby Lounge at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali shifted into a different kind of Friday plan. Katha Bercerita brought together readers, writers, and curious minds for an intimate afternoon with Indonesian author Valiant Budi, known as Vabyo, centered on his novel Tukar Takdir and the path it took from page to screen.

With attendance intentionally capped, the conversation stayed close and interactive. Vabyo shared how the story first took shape, what changed once film producers approached him, and how the pandemic slowed production before the project moved forward again. He also spoke about the adaptation process, from casting to the director’s request to adjust certain elements for a broader audience, while keeping the emotional core of the novel in place.

Questions from the room quickly became part of the program, including practical topics like navigating creative blocks and staying consistent through the writing process. Adding to the atmosphere, Gramedia Bali set up a mini book fair, turning the lounge into a small marketplace for browsing between discussions.

The afternoon closed with a book signing, giving guests a chance to meet Vabyo, share thoughts, and take home a signed copy. Marketing and Communications Manager Dedy Sulistiyanto, who initiated the series, noted the energy in the room and confirmed the next Katha Bercerita is planned for June. The resort aims to keep the series as a steady gathering point in Jimbaran, creating space for dialogue, community connection, and a reason to return.
