On Squad Race Brings the Energy of Global Run Culture to Jakarta

Running has become more than just a workout—it's a way to connect, build community, and celebrate movement together. This June, that spirit took over Jakarta as Swiss performance brand On launched the city's inaugural On Squad Race, transforming an everyday multi-story car park into an exciting urban racecourse where teamwork mattered just as much as speed.
Part of a global race series, On Squad Race shines a spotlight on the crews and communities that have become the heartbeat of today's running culture. Rather than focusing on individual achievements, the event celebrates collective effort through a fast-paced relay format known as The Spiral, where each runner tackles a lap down and back up the venue's spiralling ramps before handing over the baton to the next teammate. The result is an adrenaline-filled race that is as thrilling to watch as it is to run.
Held at Trinity Tower, the Jakarta edition welcomed 60 local squads, each consisting of four runners with a maximum of two male participants. The unconventional venue and high-energy atmosphere reflected On's vision of making running feel playful, accessible, and deeply rooted in community, while giving local crews a chance to compete for a coveted place at the global final in Los Angeles later this year.

Jakarta joins an impressive lineup of cities including Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Barcelona, Tokyo, London, Singapore, and Sydney, all connected through the same celebration of movement. While each city brings its own local flavour to the race, the goal remains universal: bringing people together through a shared love of running and the communities that grow around it.
Adding to the experience, every participating crew received a limited-edition On Squad Race Performance T-shirt, designed as a keepsake inspired by classic concert tour merchandise—a wearable reminder of being part of something bigger than the finish line. Runners also had the opportunity to test the new Cloudmonster 3, On's latest high-performance running shoe, throughout the event.

As run clubs continue to flourish across Indonesia, events like On Squad Race highlight how running has evolved into a lifestyle built around connection, encouragement, and shared experiences. It's no longer simply about chasing personal bests, but about finding your people, showing up together, and celebrating every stride along the way.
