Jumeirah Bali Celebrates World Sea Turtle Day with Meaningful Oceanfront Release

Against the sweeping backdrop of Uluwatu’s coast, Jumeirah Bali marked World Sea Turtle Day with a heartfelt turtle release, in partnership with Eco Tourism Bali. The afternoon brought together resort guests, media, and conservation partners to witness the return of 30 olive ridley sea turtles to their natural home as part of a wider mission to protect and restore marine biodiversity.

Now in its third release since 2023, the initiative is a growing tradition at the resort, offering an intimate and hands-on opportunity to participate in ocean conservation. Guests gathered along the soft shores of Jumeirah Bali to learn, reflect, and play a part in this delicate journey from hatchling to ocean wanderer. Leading the educational session was the Turtle Conservation and Education Center, which shared insights into the challenges faced by sea turtles and the importance of preserving healthy marine ecosystems.

This local action is also part of something much larger. Across the globe, Jumeirah Group has built a growing network of marine conservation projects, from the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP), which has returned over 2,300 sea turtles to the sea since 2004, to new coral nurseries and turtle partnerships in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Just this month, 72 rescued turtles were released by the DTRP, some outfitted with satellite trackers to monitor their journey back into the wild.

At Jumeirah Saadiyat Island, 135 turtles were released in collaboration with the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, while Jumeirah Al Naseem has partnered with Ocean Revive to develop a coral nursery producing over 1,400 fragments, an important contribution to DUBAI REEF.

Back in Bali, the celebration serves as both a quiet triumph and a gentle reminder. “Our continued collaboration with Eco Tourism Bali enables us to create purposeful, guest-facing experiences that inspire a deeper connection to nature,” said Ram Hiralal, General Manager of Jumeirah Bali. “This release not only marks World Sea Turtle Day but also reflects our commitment to protecting Bali’s coastal ecosystems and contributing to Jumeirah Group’s global conservation mission.”

As the sun dipped toward the horizon and the last hatchling made its way to the waves, the message was clear: moments like these matter. They shape the future of travel, the future of our oceans, and the way we connect with nature, with each other, and with the world we hope to protect.

For those seeking a mindful travel experience rooted in care, Jumeirah Bali continues to offer more than luxury. It’s an invitation to engage, to learn, and to be part of something lasting.
