Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud Marks Kimpton's Long-Awaited Debut in Indonesia

A new chapter in Bali's hospitality scene is about to unfold as IHG Hotels & Resorts prepares to introduce Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud—the very first Kimpton property in Indonesia. Set to open later this year, the luxury lifestyle hotel promises to bring the brand's signature blend of thoughtful design, warm hospitality, and vibrant social experiences to the cultural heart of Bali, offering travelers a fresh way to experience Ubud.
Nestled along Jalan Bisma, just a short stroll from the Ubud Art Market, Ubud Palace, and the historic Water Palace, Kimpton Suntaya places guests within easy reach of the town's artistic and cultural landmarks. Designed as an extension of Ubud's creative spirit, the hotel embraces the brand's philosophy of intuitive service and design-forward spaces that encourage curiosity, connection, and a genuine sense of belonging.

The name Suntaya carries a meaning that reflects the destination itself. Inspired by Sanskrit, combining Suniya (stillness) and Taya (vitality), it embodies the balance that defines Ubud—where moments of peaceful retreat naturally coexist with vibrant cultural life. Set beside the tranquil Wos River, the hotel draws inspiration from the rhythm of flowing water and the surrounding landscape, creating an atmosphere that feels grounded, restorative, and deeply connected to nature.
Designed by renowned architecture firm Denton Corker Marshall, the property follows the contours of Ubud's hillside terrain while subtly interpreting the movement and rhythm of traditional Balinese ceremonial processions. The result is a contemporary sanctuary that feels both monumental and intimate, blending modern architecture with the island's cultural identity.

Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud will feature 101 accommodations, ranging from thoughtfully designed guestrooms to spacious pool suites and private pool villas. True to the Kimpton experience, guests can also enjoy beloved brand signatures including the complimentary "Forgot It, We've Got It!" program for travel essentials, the daily Kimpton Kickstart morning coffee and pastries, and Kimpton Social, an evening gathering designed to bring guests and locals together over conversation and shared experiences.
Food enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to as well. The hotel will introduce five distinctive dining venues, led by Imamura Ubud, an intimate omakase restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred Chef Hirofumi Imamura. Guests can also discover Shaku by Imamura, a lively interpretation of Japanese izakaya dining that promises playful flavors in a relaxed setting.
Wellness remains an integral part of the experience. Alongside a two-story fitness studio, guests will find dedicated recovery facilities featuring modern contrast therapy, while Sakshi Spa offers rituals inspired by Balinese healing traditions, creating opportunities to restore both body and mind after a day spent exploring Ubud's galleries, cafés, and rice terraces.
As Indonesia welcomes its first Kimpton, Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud is set to become more than just another luxury hotel. It promises to be a vibrant gathering place where thoughtful design, exceptional dining, wellness, and the creative energy of Ubud come together—inviting both travelers and locals to experience Bali through a fresh, lifestyle-driven lens.
